A vacant building in Central Macon would be converted to a storage facility with 15,000 square feet left over for a potential tenant, primarily for a fair-sized grocery store. The building facade would be completely redone.

Brief History; A Kroger was built in 1997 off of where part of Mailey Avenue was. Around the late 2000s, A gas station was added and the parking lot was maneuvered for a possible shopping center to be placed in the front (which is there to this day). It was the largest Kroger in Macon until around 2018, when it was announced that the store would shutter. 

As of April 2021; Nothing has been recently stated on what's going to happen, except the fact of a possible storage facility opening up. I assumed it might be ExtraSpace Storage since they've been popping around the country. However, Space was left for a smaller grocery store to open up nearby, due to the area becoming a food desert.
